OUTFIT POST: BOSTONS

In what some would call a moment of madness (my Mum, my bank manager) and others would call a moment of clarity (myself, my fashion friends), I treated myself to the Isabel Marant 'Bostons'. And I couldn't be more happy with my purchase! They are as comfortable as they look, whilst providing a bit of height (that I don't really need, but ya know).

I bought them from Net-a-Porter (Thanks Canned Fashion for the back in stock update) and I have to say their service is amazing! For £20 quid I had my shoes delivered to Australia 3 days after purchasing with the promise that if I changed my mind I could arrange a courier to COLLECT them from my address. Seriously, that is what I call customer service. PLUS they came wrapped in tissue paper with a big fat ribbon tied around the box (as you may have seen on Instagram).

Here's an outfit I wore them with soon after they arrived...
(oh incidently on the day they arrived I went to Westfield and ended up in this video. CRINGE)

J.W. ANDERSON x TOPSHOP

It's pay day tomorrow and one of these sets is going in my shopping basket. But which one, can't choose? Can I have both?

JALOUSE

Just a quick one, because I wanted to post these gorgeous images from Jalouse September. International magazines are pretty pricey here (actually so are the domestic titles) and since I got stung by an airfreight copy of Elle UK (20 bucks!!) I've started using TFS again. Long live thefashionspot!

Note to self: buy full length dungarees before it gets too hot to wear them

OUTFIT: LAYERED

Finally Spring has Sprung! That has to be the most overused phrase in Sydney over the last couple of weeks, but we have been experiencing some seriously good weather, not too dissimilar to an English summer (and I'm not just saying that to make you guys at home jealous, it's a useful comparator alright? Really).

I mostly define 'good weather' as whether or not I can wear bare legs and I've been sans tights/stockings for a couple of weeks now, but the mornings/evenings can be a bit on the chilly side, so layers are the order of the day. Since I carelessly (stupidly) lost my leather jacket at the weekend I thought I'd try a little denim on denim.

Wow did I just write two paragraphs about the weather? How very British of me. HERE'S WHAT I WORE:

NYFW: SURPRISES

Ok so this is my first Fashion month 'Down Under' and it's a rather strange experience! Admittedly I don't actually know what the time difference is between here and NYC (I should probably know this) but I feel like shows are happening all day long, when I go to bed, while I'm sleeping and when I wake up, due to my international Instagram and Twitter feed. I thought I was keeping up when all of a sudden it seems it's almost over and I've barely had a chance to take it all in.

So anyway, the first thing I want to say is, WOAH when did Victoria Beckham stop designing clothes based on her signature look and start designing FASHUN. I mean I've never faulted Posh for what she did, because she did it damned well, but this is a collection I want to WEAR.

What ever the fashion world is going to term this shade of orange (orange?) I want to wear it now. (And thus is the beauty of being on this side of the world. It's only getting warmer from here and wear it I can).

Secondly, I have a confession. I've haven't really loved the last few Marc Jacobs collections (though I love the Fall ads, but that's another post), so I was surprised to find so much I liked about this collection! The super low waists, super high hems and the embellished maxis in particular. I need one of those maxis (and somewhere to wear it).

Finally Pinterest is amazing during Fashion Week and I don't know why I didn't notice how useful it could be before. I'm pinning my favourite looks here: http://pinterest.com/hardtochase/ss13-fw/

FASHION'S NIGHT OUT

So on Thursday I headed into the city to see what Vogue Fashion's Night Out Sydney had to offer. I started at the Queen Victoria Building, where I wasn't disappointed to be handed my first glass of champagne!

From there I moved swiftly on to the city Westfield where I spotted Sarah De Bono from The Voice on the Vogue Stage, mid photo shoot.

On my way towards David Jones, I came across a salsa dancing display, so stopped off for a couple of pictures, before being manoevred into the Galliano bar to try cocktails made with Galliano Vanilla.

Finally arrived at David Jones, in time for a mini fashion show and trend talk with the buyers.

Then on to Shopbop, which had to be one of the best events of the night (and not just because they were particularly generous with the champagne top-ups). Fantastic clothes and iPads on hand should you want to buy then and there.

Lastly I swung by the Vogue Precinct at Martin Place to say hi to ASOS.

Now roll on Fashion month!

MOONRISE KINGDOM

I went to see Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom this week and it was so awesome that when it finished I almost wished I could rewind and watch the whole thing again.

As well as the delightful plot, scenery and soundtrack (Francoise Hardy!) I was mesmerised by character Suzy's 60s outfits.

OUTFIT

Just a quick outfit post, a comfortable outfit from the other day. It's getting too warm to dress like this now. This Karen Walker sweater arrived in my shipment from England as did my gold high tops. I knew the trainers were coming but completely forgot I even owned the sweater but was happy to see it! The head scarf is Ralph Lauren and I picked it up at the markets in Surry Hills for 10 bucks my first weekend here.
