FUNNY TUMMY

British artist Funny Tummy first came to my attention when one of my friends bought a couple of his prints but it was only when I started following his Instagram (@funnytummyart) that I realised how I loved his work. Save for his work, little information can be found online of Funny Tummy himself (a little digging told me his real name is Shawn Earl Lee) but who needs to know the details, the work speaks for itself. (And apparently RiRi agrees).

All images from funnytummyart.com where prints and original art are available for purchase.

ROOM PORTRAITS

Can't stop looking at these images by Menno Aden. They're the kind of images that every time you look you see something you didn't see before. Sometimes it's good to get another perspective on things.

DECORATING

So when I moved into my place I only bought a bed (I've got a built in wardrobe) because I didn't want to get carried away in Ikea and end up with a replica of the showroom for a bedroom.
However, a week and a half later and I'm completely obessesed with the expedit shelving, so much so that I'm wondering if I can get it on the bus after work??

Yeah perhaps home delivery would be a better option.

I got all of these from pinterest, so holla if a pic belongs to you

STREET ART LONDON

Before I left London I went on a tour of Street Art in Shoreditch. Actually it was a pretty long time before I left London but it's just occured to me that I never posted about it. There is some street art here in Sydney but I can't say I've seen anything that remotely compares so far. Would love to check out a tour here and spot some of the guys below. Images are smaller than I'd like because I couldn't narrow down the selection any more! Click the images to see bigger and check out details of the tour here.

Stik, Eine

Alicé, Swoon

C215 (C215 and Alicé are a couple so you often find their work near each other)

El Mac (this was 4 days old when I saw it), Roa

Isaac Cordal, JimmyC

Pablo Delgado's miniature paste ups are amazing. Usually found at the bottom of a wall, on a step or a curb, they are easily missed but a rewarding spot.

Ben Slow, Steve "ESPO" Powers of www.aloveletterforyou.com/ fame

Stinkfish, Christiaan Nagel. I never noticed these mushrooms until they were pointed out but they are all over Shoreditch.

JimmyC, C215

We were so lucky to see Ben Slow at work in Brick Lane towards the end of the tour!

ACTS OF KINDNESS

I love Random Acts of Kindness by Danny Wallace, so Art on the Underground's latest project really appeals to me. Artist Michael Landy has selected real stories of kindness on the tube and displayed them in trains and stations. It's so rare for people to even talk on the tube, it's quite heartwarming to read the stories.

CALLÉJON DE HAMEL

Calléjon de Hamel is an amazing street in Havana known as the centre of Afro-Cubanism. I was lucky enough to visit it in person while I was in Cuba. The work of Cuban artist Salvador Gonzáles Escalona the murals and sculptures there are heavily influenced by the Cuban religion, Santeria and were created using available paint and every day objects, bathtubs, old tills..
On Sunday's you can see people dancing to the rumba rhythms which is said to invoke the Orishas (Santeria Gods).

(Check out the voodoo doll under the pavement and the tiger striped cat who seemed to fit in with his surroundings..)

All photos taken by me. Use with credit please.
